Night Shoot
Spanhoe Airfield
October 18, 2025
Spanhoe is a very private airfield where a host of very interesting veteran aircraft reside and in some cases restored. This event was organised by Threshold, thanks must go to the airfield and aircraft owners who generously presented their aircraft around the small airfield for the attending photographers.

The production version, designated MS.733, included five pre-production aircraft and 200 production models, delivered to the French Navy (40), French Air Force (145), and Cambodian Air Force (15). Several civilian flying schools, including Air France (5), also used the Alcyon as a single-engine trainer.

Left to right: Great Lakes 2T-1A-1 Sport Trainer (G-BUPV c/n 126 previously N865K). Built in 1932, it was imported from the United States in 1989 and subsequently restored by Robert Fray, with the restoration completed in 1998.
The Great Lakes Aircraft Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio, developed a small two-seat biplane designed for training and aerobatics, with the first prototype taking flight in March 1929. The aircraft quickly proved successful, with 262 units built before production ceased in 1933 due to the company's closure during the Great Depression. Despite this, the biplane's enduring popularity led to its reintroduction in the 1970s and again in 2011 by WACO Classic Aircraft.

Left to right: Globe GC-1B Swift (G-BFNM). A two-seat, all-metal monoplane designed in the 1940s. Two prototypes of the Globe Swift were built, followed by about 408 GC-1As. In 1947, the upgraded 125 hp GC-1B was produced, with 833 built in six months; overproduction led Globe into insolvency, and TEMCO acquired the type certificate, producing 260 more aircraft before ending production in 1951. Later, Univair and then the Swift Museum Foundation managed the certificate and spare parts, with production continuing until 1979.
