Pilot Currency Flights - Canberra PR.9 XH134
Kemble
November 2013 to March 2014
|
Saturday November 8, 2013 Cotswold Airport formally known as RAF Kemble is the home of Midair Squadron who are preparing for the 2014 display season. Midair Squadron's Hawker Hunter T.7 (XL577 registered G-XMHD) was rolled out from the C2 Aviation hangar in a similar new all silver colour scheme to their English Electric Canberra PR.9 (XH134 registered G-OMHD).
Canberra display pilots Dave 'Pipes' Piper and Mike Leckey were preparing for their currency flight at the same time. First to take-off was Dave Piper in his distinctive white helmet he ran through a display routine before returning to land and handing over the controls to Mike Leckey who flew a similar routine. XH134 retired from RAF service in 2006 and is one of very few Canberra's still flying after its extensive overhaul. Hunter T.7 (XL600 registered G-RAXA) should also join the fleet in the same scheme for next year's display season. |
